Monday was my first major exhibition which concluded my three years of study at Winstanley College. This consisted of a variety of works, including fine art, graphic design, illustration, textiles and sculpture. Having partaken in a number of exhibitions at college, we all decided to end on a high, putting everything into our final major projects. Having found my last year at college particularly difficult, due to suffering from mental illness, i decided to focus this project on me. I wanted to explore the idea of color therapy, and use my art as a way to uplift myself and hopefully those around me. For the bulk of the project, i found creating such a personal project challenging and daunting, as it was a pathway i had never explored before. Alongside my research into colour therapy, i used nature as a central source of inspiration for my project, i really wanted to observe the forms which construct our daily surroundings and the environment around us. Choosing painting as my primary source of media came naturally to me as i have always found it therapeutic, and was keen to explore the technique in depth.

Although my initial aim of focusing on my own emotions in this project proved to be harder than expected, my final piece, consisting of three 5ft by 5ft paintings were able to uplift and inspire those around me, which is the greatest achievement i could have wished of. As a whole our exhibition was successful, everyone put their all into their final pieces of work and i am so proud to have been apart of it.

I had hoped to blog my work whilst doing my project, however didn't have enough time, so i will show the progression and and development of my exhibition in later posts.
